Remove the oil catch can and leave it off for a few days!
I think that's your problem! It's causing crank case pressure to raise!
My old Gtir hated catch cans and would do exactly the same!

The catch can is causing the system to pressurise! Even though there's an air filter on it, it's just not enough!

I don't have the standard black catch can that sits next to the rocker cover what happens I I remove the hose from the catch can and blank one side of the t connector? Would that build up pressure to?

29 Re: SMOKiNG AGAIN aghrrrrrrrr on 12th December 2013, 7:06 pm

scottyboy

Or just take the catch can off and leave the t connector open?

Just remove the catch can and plumb the filter off it onto the rocker cover where the can is connected to.
Leave the pipe that goes to the sump Wink
It's not going to hurt anything venting the vapours instead of putting them to a catch can!

There's oil coming out of port 3 on the manifold Sad

Haha aww the joys any ideas? Rings? Stem seals? 3&4 piston have oil on them looking through the plug hole

Just done another compression check and all 4 cylinders are 11bar 160psi only thing I can think off is valve stem seals

Has any one ever replaced valve stem seals in place before if so how did you do it ?? Thanks Scott

I reckon your oil control ring is seized on the piston and letting oil by.

seen it before on cars some running almost 200psi and the reason for that is the oil builds up on top of the piston then carbons up which then raises the compression but still carries on leaking oil.

looks like a strip down buddy, bet you find a seized oil control ring onto the piston

They were all free when I fitted the pistons back in Sad and well lubed up also what about valve stem seals? Maybe one has lifted off broke away lol?

yeah its possible
if I were you I would remove the ex manifold and check the port out on the head to see if its wet with oil

you can do valve tem seals without removing the head but its a bit fiddly

If it's wet with oil what would that mean boss?

What about the 15w40 mineral oil might be to thin?

no wont be the oil
if the ports wet that's confirming theres a prob on that cylinder.
remove the plug first if its only running on 3 nd if the end of that icovered in oil then theres deffo a prob with that cylinder.

then its a bit of a gamble really, you can either do the stem seals on that one to see if it solves the problem if not then its a head off job as theres a major problem there somewhere

Still could be from crank case pressure build up!
I would run it for a while and see if the oil burns off and settles down!
When it happened to mine it took a couple of days to clear properly!

if theres crankcase pressure build up and assuming the breather system is plumbed in properly then its definitely a piston/cylinder related problem if his plugs oiling up.

scotty............pull the dipstick out and rev the car to see if theres loads of pressure and oil spirting out
need to see an under bonnet pic of how you've got all your pipes routed please

Pipes for the breather system? If so I've posted them and the plugs don't have any oil on them all dry:s I'm going to make sure all 4 plugs are sparking put them back in and see if she will run on 4 again

49 Re: SMOKiNG AGAIN aghrrrrrrrr on 13th December 2013, 12:37 pm

I'll pull the dipstick out to and check

Cold start up back running on 4 cylinder will leave it 20 mins and check it again
