Hi hoping someone may know, figure its gonna be box off anyway but thought someone in here may have had an issue similar, when i broke my first clutch launching the car, i replaced it with an organic exedy (genuine) and i had this problem which i just assumed was because it was a new clutch, anyway when i pull off in the car i get this horrible sound, its hard to describe but sounds like when you have noisey brakes on your bicycle (screeching sound).

this noise happens when im pulling the car off on the bite and even worse when the car is cold and the clutch has done around 10k miles probably more since it was fitted

after hearing vpulsar mention about clutch release bearings for silvias made me wonder if i have the right bearing in.

does any know what this noise could be?

Thanks in advance

Did you fit the clutch yourself mate .... ive never really heard a release bearing squelling not saying its not .... but in my experiance they tend to make more of a rattley sound wich tends to be worse on idle without the pedal depressed when you then press the pedal down it quitens off .... maybe its more the pressure plate ?

My exeedy does this . it like a weird rattling squeal .
Doesn't do it always just now and again

my old sunny 1.4 did exactly the same with the same noise .
but when it made the noise the clutch would slip . But only while it made that noise
Again not always just now and again

My excedy single hyper carbon slips untill its had a couple launces not that i boot it from cold but if i drive till car is warm them first couple times you put your foot down it it slips untill you warm it ie launch or slip it. Its done it from brandnew and after its warm you can grief it and launch and it holds no problem.
Ps i dont launch my car everywhere

I think it's more likely a release bearing fault/noise

oh well i guess its box off and another new clutch, quite irritating considering the cost and ball ache of fitting another unit

my new clutch also makes a funny noise when cold, but once the car is running it stops, my mate reckons its the release bearing but said not to worry about it as its all new :/

is it also an exedy you have bebb? its not too concerning its just the irritation and the looks when your pulling out a parking space or away from a junction

It's a horrible noise . could liken it to a combination of strangling a turkey and loud purring cat

Ive read about this somewhere before... & it pointed to a slightly warped flywheel, as your on the biting point the clutch is not fully making contact on the flywheel so causing exess slip on a certain point on the clutch & flywhell... But when clutch fully engaged it meets up to the flywheel as it should so sound go's away... Hence the wering noise.

I could be wrong tho? Just what ive read in the past on an old thread on another forum.

Digi, are you running standard flywheel? Did you get the flywheel skimmed when you fitted the new clutch?

mines a helix organic with skimmed flywheel, but my noise sounds like the friction plate not lined up on the flywheel so sounds like a clatter :/

thanks for the reply guys think i f'd it up by not skimming the flywheel so i guess its the glaze on the flywheel or what gaz says a warped flywheel, guess its replace everything time again...
