That's a very good opinion, how much would I be looking at to forge an engine though? It's not just the forging though, it's all the other upgraded parts you have to buy and then the price just starts going up and up, I don't mind waiting for a while to get a decent car at a good price, I'd like to buy one and off I go so to speak!

well if you look round you could probably buy a car for around 1500 that needs some engine work.
if you buy one with piston / ringland damage but that has a good crank then youll leave yourself a budget of around 2.5k to forge it and sort out any other bits that need doing which is a fair amount especially if you and or your mates are mechanically minded and you can do the work yourselves.
its when you have to pay out garage rates to get work done youll find the cars become expensive so with these sort of cars you really need to be able to do a lot of the work yourselves. and that rule applies whether you buy a car that needs work or whether you buy something already done as at some stage something will go wrong with it (forged or not) and that's when youll need to knuckle down and fix the said problem or have deep pockets lol

im not being negative here but just saying as it is as too many people buy these cars then when they go wrong they just get rid of them rather than having a go at fixing things which is the mentality you need if your an owner of a 20 year plus high performance car

Very true! I appreciate the feed back, I'm just going to wait it out for a while and see what comes up! I'm in no rush! And if something does go wrong I'm prepared to fix it! Or at least have a go

Ok so all you need to do is download photobucket app make an account up  you can directly upload your photos and videos  on there straight from your phone  so no messing about with laptop /pc  then once uploaded click on share it will give you the option  copy to clipboard  then it will show up links click on the last one then just paste in on here ..... it sounds complex but its not after a couple of times doing it .....

That GTIR you shared on piston heads looks pretty clean, shame he dosent have proof of forged engine etc but it does look a clean car.
I like your old R mate, looks stunning, I bet you miss her mate

Yea it looks really smart, but wouldn't want to spend 4 and a half on a car with no proof, there's to many chancers out there! And yea i polished it nearly every week, was my pride and joy, regret selling it but had to as lost my job and couldn't really afford to keep it!
