Would gti shocks be the same as gtir as I'm going to fit new ones this winter and whenever I ask for gtir stuff they just look at me blank lol

If aiming for pretty much standard you may find going to Nissan works out okay, did have prices around £120 a strut but was some time ago but worth a call/visit.
You probably will find the 4x4 cars the best options for trying cross fit struts.
KYB will have good range of stuff that probably will work/require minimal tweaks if no direct part listing is possible.

I've given up with my local nissan. After 8 calls I'm still waiting for a price on a standard exhaust and that was 16 months ago. lol when I get them off I'll have a measure up and try to find a comparison

Do you not have more than 1 dealer in your area so you could at least get a current price idea.
I have the numbers 'below' of KYB struts that are said to fit the GTiR but I have not tried myself as used new from nissan on one & been able find decent GABS then refreshed with new paint, boots, tophats & custom springs from springcoil modelled from original GAB springs for some others.

These numbers may help narrow selection from a local autofactors ...

Trouble with gti rears is body tube hangs too low & catches the cv joint & as stated the drop link bracket point is not same.

gti protrudes more below hub mounting point & is about 25mm longer in body over gtir strut, housing diameter is same.

Presumebly because they do not have to worry about the rear diff on the gti ... you would of thought they would of made the same struts for all to save on cost ...

Basically no drive shaft passing under base of strut allows space for strut hang lower, was surprised myself when first saw it as like you would of expected high chance of externals of strut being same for easier/cheaper manufacture. Other factor would of been that fwd was designed first for the model range.

Front shocks are easier as the standard fwd gti struts bolt straight on.

Personally best choices if keeping vehicle standard as possible are new from nissan followed by decent set of used GABs .
You can put koni or bilstein cartridges in standard struts but not cheap to do well.
