My own fault but forgot to sorn one of my cars so just had a fine and told to either tax it or sorn it. Fine was luckily only for the period I've missed £12.08 so not too bad but when you have 6 cars and 4 motorbikes you Can't remember bloody everything lol. You'd think they got enough money out of me as it is shit hit the fan

I've paid God knows how many fines to them over last few years and it's a kangaroo court with the fookers, they really are out to grab as much as they can from the unsuspecting motorist, even if the damned car / bike is not being used 
Assholes the lot of them beating a dead horse

You have to sorn yr car if the tax runs out mate, my cars not on the road and I too only bought it about 4 weeks ago so be careful Stu the footers are on it

Statutory off road notification.

Car must be sorned if vehicle excise duty (tax) runs out or is cancelled.

I had a tax reminder saying sorn just rolls over not unless you tax it ????

Sorn rolls over now year to year but a car does not automatically become sorn when tax runs out, you have to notify them.

Also you can be insured but not taxed but not taxed with no insurance, that's a fine.
