Ok so I have a true 3" elbow not to standard position. But I think it's the same on a stock setup. The long bolt that goes through won't push all the way out either way so alt removal means taking the full bracket off. Has anyone done any mod to make it easier ?

Problem is my elbow dose not alow alt to drop down far enough to get to the bolt on the 3 bolt bracket to change it.

Ok so I am thinking out loud. 2 bits of threaded bar or inner ends threaded and a coupler. Say just x2bolts with a shaft. One threaded more than the other. Screw a nut on right  one as you look at it once it's in to centre through bracket and eye on alt. Then coupler screw it well up the thread. put a shorter bolt in from left side screw coupler back over so it joins both then screw nut up to coupler and slight turn against each other will lock it in position. I am yet to try this but might work ? Thoughts ? Sound complicated but ain't really

Like I say if alt fails I can not change it without removing elbow or slacking manifold. And I like the free flow of elbow.

How hard is the elbow to get off johnny? Makes sense what you are explaining and will solve your problem. I haven't look but is there enough space for the coupler?

Should be as coupler don't need to be more than what 3 nuts wide.
Only reason I brought this up was it was late I had a long drive had work next day alt packed in I got one but what should be a hours work was way more. I have v band from elbow to downpipe but as we know any 3 inch elbow nuts are tight gasket is there and awkward. Plus how long until elbow cools mate. Nuts bolts can be a pain due to heat/rust
