Ok I don't have face book maybe that's why. But ain't seen many parts for sale. Peoples honest thoughts on

Umbrella
Spec R power steering bottle
Spec R Expansion bottle
DDPR speaker system

Few things have suprised me lately. Carbon bonnets were making 350 but are £595 new now

Umbrellas go up and down but parts don't seem to be on offer much these days and in my opinion only can go up with time as the market opens up. I not meaning in years but don't want to sell cheap if there worth more as not many offered for sale

I've seen alot of umbrellas for sale lately, then probably won't see any in ages soon. That speaker system must be worth a lot.

Speaker system is shit lol I sold mine years ago for 180 quid seen them go for 120 recently on eBay up to 200 quid a while ago.

What were the Spec R new? Guess its like anything its supply and demand if you want to ask big money then you may habe to wait until someonw really wants one. Otherwise a good price will tempt people to buy it who wouldnt have been looking before.

As I say not after top top prices but I would rather offer them far and wide or keep them then sell for say £50 for umbrella then see one in a month or 2 sell for double. seen umbrella last year or a while back couple sold for £60 then they jumped up as people wanted them one sold on e bay for £150

My thoughts are umbrella 100 as ain't seen any for sale for ages and cars getting put back to standard and going to the states. Speaker system are optional extra some don't work without altering internal wiring. Again not seen any for a long time were making £150
Bottles not sure I know they ain't forge but look at the price of there expansion bottle apart from them or spec R dose unless custom anyone make them for the R ?

I ain't greedy but been realistic this is to fund  my project so not giving stuff away unless someone proves with genuine reason. Can anyone tell me a air filter housing for a pulsar ? I paid a lot for my plastic one off e bay due to postage. What we need is great group buys like the recent bumper protectors one. Excerlant quality great price, well organised. But not many people sort it as can take a lot of effort and time for not a big return. I had about 6 people ask about filter housing 1 or 2 saying don't want to pay more than £50 for a piece of metal. Ok don't make one similar for yourself and spares for others and I will buy one off you for £50 or show me a very similar product on line for a pulsar for that price and they ain't yet

Are these spec r bottles alloy?
Umbrellas go for much more than 100 more like £250+
Its also what people are willing to pay just like buying a non rusty gtir, if it's good people will spend spend spend.

Got an umbrella on my shelf, £300 buys it Wink

I think the price increase on everything has been good for the R in general. Up to very recently getting a good one was hard as virtually all of them were historically owned by people wanting a quick thrill for 3grand or less. Never maintained them properly and fixed all problems with some PVA glue and some good old duck tape.
Owners now are more genuine and into the car overall.
Was speaking to Michael (the guy with all the genuine Nissan parts on eBay) and he said he has noticed the type of ownership change as well.
Hopefully these little rockets will finally be worth in bucks what they are worth in fun.

I like that talk, hopefully pricing out the market those who will use and abuse them.
Those who will spend real money on these will be the ones that will look after and take car of them.

So what about those people who use their everyday and enjoy them rather than treat them as investment or museum piece?? I think this is getting slightly ridiculous people want stupid money for bit nowadays  (someone wanted a £1000 for a steering wheel!!!) Cars went up massively in price but struglle to sell. And I'm worried tbh that they'll get nicked and broken for parts...

Agreed. £1000 for a steering wheel IS rediculous.
Did it sell? The general market will always dictate the price of things, supply and demand

Yeah as you say the more money the stupid bits are worth it may be the difference between bothering to sort a shell or just breaking it up. I think people are just trying their luck and some are that desperate to have that knee rest or unbrella they pay the moneys

Doesnt matter to me that the car may be worth more its maintaining it to desired condition. Maybe with the small number of these cars and diminishing stock of bits one day they will price themselves out of the market for me. Lets not forget there are lots of other jap marks out there with more pedegree and overall value. 8 years of ownership its hard to swallow spending 5x the amount on parts I brought 3 years ago for cheap although I appreciate it will always happen!

Also a fully working R will be worth good money but get an issue with it and watch the value plumet as no one would want to invest thousands to put it wright

Totally agree with that
Prices some parts are going for is ridiculous!
People are paying more for a pair of knee rests than what you could buy a whole car for 2 years ago but if they want to pay that kind of money then who are we to argue lol.

Its not just the Pulsars btw its a lot of marques and not just jap stuff
To give you an example my Tvr i paid £9500 for back in 2011 then spent 7k on a complete engine build within 50 miles of driving it home, so the car then owed me 16.5k hardly used the car since and pleased i didnt sell it because over the past 2 years they have rocketed in value and i could now get 25-30k for the car if i sold it today.
It needs a window / door closure control box as mine is kaput, so i searched for one and your looking at around £500 for a secondhand unit Shocked a door could cost upwards of £500 and small items are ridiculously expensive.
Thats just one other marque and their are cars that command even more for rare items so in comparison the Gtir parts are still relatively cheap!

Yeah what Shroom said... If the prices will rocket like that people simy won't be able to afford to maintain them or fix something silly. Anyrhing more involved and people will just leave it to rot saying I'll fix it one day. Same thing with keeping them in storage for too long... If not used brakes will sieze up stuff like oil seals will dey and perish you'll start it up after a year give it a rev and it'll piss oil everywhere... Just drive those things and stop thinkimg you've got vintage Ferrari!! lol! lol! lol!

I think that the US market now being able to import Pulsars has a lot to do with it (stupid 25 year old rule!). The prices of Audi S2's have gone silly over the last few years down to that alone. As said, it can only be a good thing for all us die hard sado-masochists with cared for R's Smile

Well I have one or two rare and standard parts so i will be maintaining my R for a good few year and hope they keep rising in price. Anyone who lets a shell rot is stupid look at any old car novas, xr2i, are two examples making crazy money people were giving them away or scrapping them for fun only a few year ago, then jump to things which you would expect to rise like mk2 escort shells etc

How does the rise in prices of Gtir's stop people maintaining them?
General servicing, oil changes, mot's, oil filters, brake pads, etc... Prices of these are still cheap as ever.
The Cossie owners are no different to us.
Get the prices of these cars sky high I say.
I spent good money on my RB Autech, and I would love the value to double.
The people buying these cars now are more mature, and will have the money and care to look after them.
Weather you see it as an investment or a car to drive and enjoy it doesn't matter, as long as the prices go up.
I'm sure if these cars are over £20k in 5 years time you will all not be complaining, so why complain now?
It's the effort we put in now that will help the future of these rare racers.
I have been in touch with a lot of people via Facebook looking for these cars. They are ensible guys, mature, have a good command of English, have decent money they want to spend on cars which they think are great, and future icons.
Been speaking with another guy who has just imported one from Japan for over £15k.
You are going on about prices to high, when you buy a £3000 Gtir before in the old days, you would spend over £10k over the years in modifying.
Now spend high on a good example and just use and maintain, or garage and cherish.
Works out the same.
Let's not kill the re resurrection of the Gtir again...

I think people are talking in general parts not so much servicing as that's like most cars ... what you seem to be forgetting in my opinion is sourcing parts in the first place as more and more parts get discontinued either due to lack of demand or run out and not to be made again ie nissan etc so sourcing second hand as stocks run lower prices go up so it's a viscous circle so it might be worth 20k in 5 years time but so will parts be sky high and will get to the point of people will break them even more as it's more lucrative investment ...

What kind of parts are we talking about here?
Nissan still stock thousands, and loads more in Japan brand new.
A few of these parts are also interchangeable with the newer SR20 variants.

I think we are a long way off not having parts as the amount of people I speak to 5 year plus they have not owned there cars but still have parts. Hopefully as the run short or are not serviceable people will reproduce similar or replacement parts.other cars as they turn classic manage. People were busting them a few year back and leaving them to rot just due to blowing the engine. They would sell the turbo a few other bits and leave them sittings rotting so a rise in price is a good thing In my opinion
