Have really been trying to look into importing a Gtir now. Well at least for the past 6 months.
Spoke to another importer about why it's getting harder to get them to the Uk. Loads are either staying in Japan or going America as they are happy to pay the crazy prices they are going for now.
One is coming up for auction this week that I was going to bid on. Thinking 5400 shipped I'll do it as it has the rare headlight grill...lol

So I fire the questions at the importer.
I give up now....

Me...
Hi, interested in the black nissan pulsar gtir you have going through auction 28/10/2016.
What's the price to Southampton? Thanks

Importer...
Hi Andrew,
I reckon it will cost about £8k imported including customs clearance.
Cheers,
Patrick

Me....
Hi Patrick,
Your website states this car and others like it will cost 5400 shipped not including mot, tax, and registration. This has 178km and is in (R) auction grade condition. How have you got to 8k?

Importer....
Hi Andrew,
Unfortunately there are 2 factors;
1. GTiR's seem to have rocketed in price over the past year
2. Since BREXIT the pound is quite weak against the Japanese Yen.
It might be possible to get it slightly cheaper but I can't see it selling for significantly less than £8k all in.
Cheers,
Patrick

lol, 10months ago was still possible get very decent for mid 4k to high 5k ...
anything which extra clean/special has good interest in other markets plus as importer states £ has taken close to 20% drop so that about 1k+ on the bill :-/ ... cheap days for proper decent examples are gone really .

I found exactly the same thing a couple of months ago. In fact from memory it was probably the same pulsar I was looking at initially. There was a winter green one for sale at that time too and I was told that would probably cost £12k or thereabouts! Fecking crazy money nowadays as Mr B said they were a lot less not so long ago Sad

Thats crazy money isn't it.
You can still pick them up for £5k I decent shape in this country.
Okay a few have sold recently for £7k or close to that.
But to have one imported at £8k is crazy!
It used to be the cheaper option to have one imported.
We all have a nice little nest egg if the value has risen that much lol
Worth all the hard work. Hassle and money we keep throwing at them I guess Laughing

That is why the prices for GTIR's in the uk have risen so much

You can thank Americans for that Wink

Even I think the price has gone to astronomical levels, even for the US. People are finally starting to see the value in them. That, and pretty much everyone has been priced out of R32's now...

What you need to do is get a group of you who genuinely want to buy cars direct from Japan, fly out in person get yo the auctions and then fill a ship container of all your cars prob work out cheaper than an importer
