1 Story so far on 3rd October 2017, 7:20 pm

I bough this from Bob in Feb this year.
It was built by John Boy and very well indeed.
John built it to look like a UK Sunny GTIR, it had a Norris Designs fully forged engine and a standard T28 running stock boost.
I wanted to keep it looking as stock as possible but with a few little performance upgrades.

I aske Bob to put an Exedy clutch in there, he also uprated the clutch fork, fitted a 2871 turbo (the T28 was smoking quite a lot after boost anyway)
Boosting now to 1.4bar producing 340BHP and 350ft/lb

I sourced a nice umbrella, fitted a little box which reads out the ECU details in real time (also does fault codes etc)
New alloys, Whiteline springs

I had a decent Cat 1 alarm installed with full closure option and also a turbo timer as part of the same alarm system so I can walk away with the alarm on but the engine running. Also had a tracker fitted.
Got some really nice Rotor 16" alloys off Bob.

The car was dropped off at the body shop today with some replacement 5 door arches and a shed of new rubbers, trims, glass, seals, wiper cowl, weather strips, mouldings, badges (got all brand new ones!) etc to replace all the old stuff rather than put old back in. Also got a new drivers window as mine has scratches all down it. Bob spayed some new wiper arms for me (front & back) which will go on after the re-spray
You will see how rotten the arches are!
I walked away with the front and rear glass out, door cards off, mirrors off, will see it again in a few days with all the arches cut out. I could help but have a bit of a poke at the rust to see how bad it was. Had left it alone until now as didn't want to make it look even worse! Am hoping that the arch fillets are salvageable... they don't look like they have perished.

Hello mate, GTIR badge was right place at right time, I think I got it off here, someone was selling it.
The 'P' badge I have been lucky to get a few of.
I bought quite a bit of Michael (the guy on eBay with all the new Nissan parts). I have basically bought almost every new rubber for the car

I know the feeling, I've spent thousands on this car now. I'm probably a few thousand off where I want it to be yet as well!

I saw one at Bobs place and I thought it was cool as well. I went on a mission to find one and found a guy in Aus that makes them. When I found him, he didn't have any as he makes them in batches. I had to wait about 4 months before he had some more. I think they are in stock at the moment...

I sat it on top of my steering column with double sided tape. If you put the steering wheel height right down, the ECU plug fits through the gap between the steering column and the dash, just leave it plugged in all the time. Really handy for seeing what's going on. You can calibrate the speed as well which I did with a GPS unit so I know a more accurate speed that I am doing.

Car will be lovely when finished Dave you certainly have left nothing to chance.

Rob.....the ecutalk plugs directly into the obd socket which in your case will be no use as you have Apexi pfc so it wont work unless you hard wire it somehow.
They are a simple but brilliant bit of kit though tha5 do so mant things yet very compact.

Keep the updates coming Dave

I've not been about much Johnboy, when did you sell up, are you still a Pulsar owner or just Rasheen ?

Think we met once or twice on a meet in Boreham.

Probably did - went to most of the meetings - but I'm terrible at remembering names....

Only got the Rasheen now - but thinking of selling as it never gets used. Sad

Thanks John, it's got to look worse before it looks better! You never really know how much rust is there until you start giving it a poke!

+1 on that, my arches are as bad if not worse after prodding, poking and tapping. Will be good once finished.
