Does any one remember jessie's experiments from the fast show?

Well this week I have been mostly re-coring an intercooler. Old one chopped out, and new pace core tacked in. The std base mount and top cover still fit. So ready to be fully welded then pressure tested! Very Happy

Oooh I like this! I need to have my ARC top mount re-cored unfortunately, the previous owner dropped something on it and dinged it up pretty badly.

Can you tell me exactly which pace core you used, or at least the exact measurements? Was it something off the shelf?

And how much if you don't mind, might just do the same if price is sensible.

Has anybody got the specs on this core yet along with price?

looking at the Pace website the core with the nearest size looks to be the one with the 86mm core and 96mm flange.

is this correct?

Hi All, Sorry for the slow reply but I've been away.

It was the 73mm flange with 60mm core I used. I'd probably change the the other dims I used if I was to do it again....

Looks like there might be a few people interested so pop your name down and maybe we can look into a group buy?? Or if anyone wants some help with a re-core give me a shout!

Cheers
Dave

Yea all good, one slight pin hole on a corner from a start/stop when welding, but just ground it back and went over it again, re-tested and no problems at all Very Happy

I would look at doing a differential pressure test across the core. Having a bar and plate core may reduce the air flow to the point its just a big heat sink. A magnahelic gauge would be needed.

You could test a stock unit for a comparison. More airflow though the core would be the ideal. Tube and fin may give better results.

Yea but the original ARC replacement was Bar and Plate style. Maybe it was just a gimmick?

There are different versions of bar and plate just like different versions of tube and fin. Fin pitch maters both internally and externally.
