New guy from peterborough

hi i have owned my R for 9 years since import and love it can never part with it, there isn't many small hatch back 4x4 turbos that can compare to a pulsar GTIR. its been off the road bless her for 2 years due to work changes but finally getting it back on the road been missing her.

when i bought it, it came with enkei 14" wheels, tein coilovers, cusco strut braces front and rear and a his filter.

now its got a few added extras and a few changes as old parts wear.  so the new spec is.

16" speed line wheels
bc racing coilovers with BR series with the stiffer spring set up 8/6kg/mm
whiteline anti lift kit
whiteline front anti roll bar and rear adjustable anti roll bar
uprated droplink bushes
powerflex bushes on swing arms
powerflex engine mounts and rear subframe mounts
z32 airflow meter with blitz induction kit
walbro fuel pump and braided fuel hoses
FSE adjustable fuel regulator with gauge
mongoose exhaust turbo back
forge front mount intercooler
alloy 50mm thick radiator
forge dump valve
ksport 6 pot callipers front with 304mm ap racing rotors
ksport 4 pot callipers rear with 304mm rotors
ksport hydraulic handbrake
all the brake lines have been redone and abs removed completely as it broke.
OBP ltd 200sx servo replacement unit with bias bar adjustable give excellent brake feel especially with the bigger brakes.

its running 1 bar boost so prob about 300bhp. with the suspension changes its just awesome round corners handles like a gokart really love driving it.

Just out of intrest what happened when your ABS broke? Did you brakes go realy crap & not stop you? Or did you abs just stop working?

Hi all thanks for the welcome ye the abs just wasn't working and brakes weren't really good so I thought I would just scrap them and do my own lol. I use the hydraulic handbrake as a handbrake. Will up load some new pics to show you

theres a car in Essex that was running k sport 6 pots up front and 4 pot rears with fly off handbrake, was running lots of power too but it is no more unfortunately

are you still running the stock engine or gone forged?

to be honest thats the first I've heard that someone else has done the same with the brakes as me. i did have a few issues with ksport with the rear brakes as the bracket wasn't right and i had to take it to a fabricator to get it modified but i got them to pay for the modifications. the reason was they done the rear brakes based on a pulsar gti not a GTIR which they didn't account for the 4x4.

na still got stock engine, thought i would do the brakes first before get any more horses would like it running about maybe 350 or 400 when i get round to it lol.

I have k sport rears thats why i asked aint done anything about a handbrake yet or bias

also know a few people that are using gtir front calipers on the rears with fly off brake but trouble is you need to run brake bias valves to get the ideal sweet spot with braking due to the front being nose heavy the car can become extremely unstable on real hard braking with 4 pots at rear (hense the demise of the Essex car lol)

they look good but ive always found just a slightly bigger rear disc kit and carbotech xp pads is all that's needed on rear anything else is too much especially if car is stripped of all weight in the rear which then makes the weight transfer even more exaggerated and rear more unstable on a circuit.
at end of the day its all about weight transfer and balance from front to rear which you need to get right for optimum brake efficiency

ye when i took it for an mot i asks the tester what they was right and he advised me that the set up i adjusted by guessing was about right i didn't want anymore on the rear. and its quit easy to adjust with the bias bar really if i need to.

well it just passed MOT today thanks to bob with the emissions shout that i didn't need a cat the matey did say to bring a letter in next time to prove it lol. can't believe how much I've missed her still goes like stink.

Ye I know what you mean nomad if it wasn't for bob I wouldn't have known and I've had the car for nine years lol. Ye I've looked through the annex list for mot emission testing mine is the 1993 model but it doesn't matter if it was the 1995 model as the car isn't in the annex list they don't have any emissions standards for the car so it says that you just test them as a basic idle test and you don't need a cat in. But when it was talking to the mot tester it does contradict it's self by saying that you need a letter from the manufacture that it doesn't meet uk emission standards. So it is prob worth getting the letter saves a lot of hassle

You could always say not unless you can speak or read japanese it would be pretty useless bringing in a letter
