I thought i would post all these questions in one topic


Where can i get the following
- CP 86mm forged Pistons
- ARP conrod studs
- Return Oil Hose from turbo to Sump
- Water Hose from hard water pipe to inlet manifold
- Gear selector seal on transfer box

If my piston ring gave up on cylinder four and chucked loads of oil into the turbo so it was smoking really bad do i need to rebuild the turbo, Shaft play is less than 1mm radially and no play axialy.

Whats the best engine bay degreaser i can use while my engine is out?

i need the gear selector seal too, i think nissan might do them ? has anybody got a part number?

I've been looking for a few days for the piston and rod bolts and can't find a UK supplier, ericsperformance parts on eBay is the cheapest but not sure how much you get stung on import tax

I say this but not to sell my engine but think about it mine is pre built low milage £2250 buy it fit it will take 450 bhp all day. Building one is very expensive job to get it done properly and hours of work

cant stretch to 2250, im only after head and block. to be honest the head is in good condition so should only need the block being re-built. Im just trying to weigh up the costs at the moment.

Don't buy pistons till checked bores for scratches & ovaling.
I know a lot don't like over boring but no idea why as can bore standard liners to 88mm if want to so stepping to 86.5mm is no worries if needed.
No idea on UK availability of CP but expect looking at US, could look at other piston options if CP not easy obtain.
CP are cheap direct in states & cheap here too.

If crank good & head good it won't cost much in terms of parts but labor is quite intense .

Have a look on here. I got my ARP rod bolts here and they were pretty reasonable. They do CP pistons aswell

Ok that's good news, i assume that's GBP not USD. I'm in Arizona and Texas for business meetings in April so might see i can get them there and bring them back in my suitcase, that way don't have to pay shipping costs.

I was on about bolts being reasonable as I got mine for £55 Delivered, didn't know price of pistons just saw they sold them and were UK based

^^ Yes USD, seen them at under £350 when exchange rate good. Should be minimal issue bringing them back, I have done same myself on parts & never had an issue but US airport security are more fussy these days.
Just be sure buy right ones & required bore size, find suppliers in advance or someone who will post to business address or hotel.

^ £55 for rod bolts is fair, no idea why so crazy on pistons.
