Pulled my exhaust and heat shields off and found this hidden behind the shield not attached to anything?

I haven't bothered looking any further yet other than posting this pic Smile

Its an exhaust temperature sensor by the looks of things, I did not know they were fitted to the Pulsar, unless it's an aftermarket sensor, most modern engines are fitted with these to monitor the exhaust temps and the ECU tweaks the fuelling/injection timing/boost ETC to keep within safe limits, the modern diesels have up to 5, turbine in/ turbine out, pre/post DPF etc.

So when you break down in the middle of no where and the cat is hot enough, grab some leaves, start a fire, and hope someone sees your smoke signals asking for help Laughing

Depends where you are really, but there are shit loads of places/ roads with no coverage. Also depends which provider you are with to whether you get coverage.

Two cups and a string would probably work better in some places Laughing

As said its a cat temp sensor

These little boogers can cause running issues, lack of power etc similar to a faulty knock sensor.
Troubles caused when people can't unscrew them due to rust so they cut them off and tuck them up under heat shield or where ever, the outer braiding can short with inner and sometimes triggers the hot dog light so then does as thermal said in earlier post.
If you have one which has been cut off then you need to completely unplug it under driver seat then it can cause no grief
