At this stage, it's very very early days and there hasn't been a whole lot of work done on the actual car but plenty is going on behind the scenes.
The plan is to use the running gear out of my other R with a few bits and pieces off a fellow members car to allow us to comply with Targa Tasmania Regulations.
Currently we are in the process of working out what brakes, wheels, and suspension we are going to run. Will most likely be a set of Team Dynamic Pro-race 1.2 15x8 wheels, 300mm x 32mm 2 piece rotors with Alcon calipers and hopefully MCA coilovers (which could be good for other owners).
The GTiR falls into the Early Modern class which takes in all cars built from 1st January 1986 to 31st December 2007.
Within Early modern its broken into 2 categories, Category 7 (1986 - 1999) and Category 8 (2000 - 2007).
Each category is then broken into 4 classes:
Class A - Up to 2500cc
Class B - 2501cc to 3500cc
Class C - 3501cc to 4500cc
Class D - Over 4500cc
Rules for modifications also varies depending on the cars performance level in standard form.
The 3 levels are SS which allows very little modification (Corvettes, Vipers, Porsche, Honda NSX for example)
LMS allows for slightly more mods and all Evos, WRX and Skylines fall under this level
MS is where our girl falls under allowing us the most freedoms.
Even though we have the most freedoms, the modifications I've made, have to be wound back a little bit, mainly the turbo.
We are planning on going back to a top mount intercooler for simplicity and efficiency. Less chance of pipes blowing off or being damaged, better airflow to the radiator and oil cooler.
We are trying to keep everything as simple, basic, easy to work on, easy to replace as much as we possibly can.
